Every Black History Month I like to search for unknown inspirations that have paved the way for black people that I have never learned in school. I am interested in pioneers who have lived in my neck of the woods or those who are contributing to our legacy as a people right before my eyes.
I hope the 29 history moments or makers that I share this month inspire us all to do better, be better, and most importantly treat one another better in our efforts to continue making an impact on our culture.
Please know that these will not be original writings, I will post stories that I find interesting and share them with you all here, on this platform. Those stores will be linked back to the original creator or writer so they get credit for their work.
I hope we all learn things that will inspire us to want to add to the history and future of black people.
Happy Black History Month!
To kick the month off, I wanted to start by highlighting a website that is going above and beyond to keep track of the legacy of black people, BLACKPAST. I will be using the majority of their content to share amazing stories about the legacy of black people.
BlackPast is dedicated to providing reliable information on the history of Black people across the globe, especially in North America. Their goal is to promote a greater understanding of our common human experience through knowledge of the diversity of the Black experience and the ubiquity of the global Black presence. They welcome us to the largest online encyclopedia on African American and Global African history on the Internet.
