Black History Month kicked off on a Sunday this year. How poetic is that?
Sundays are a day of rest in my home, a day to reset and refocus and prepare for the upcoming week. This year, the month kicked off on the perfect day because every black person I know has one consistent theme: WE ARE TIRED!
The politics, the effort to not only survive but thrive in today's climate, in addition to the years building up to this one. Not only are we tired, but we are "Muhfuckin' Tied!"
I pray I use every minute of this celebratory month to not only pour into myself, but I pray my cup runneth over so I can pour into others who feel depleted.
I pray that the stories I share from our ancestors accomplishments inspire us all to be a part of the history that will continue to curate our freedom for generations to come.
